Mykola Kulish
Mykola Kulish was a prominent Ukrainian writer, playwright, director, and public figure. One of the brightest representatives of the "Executed Renaissance," his works left a profound impact on Ukrainian literature and theater.
Kulish was an active member and president of the literary association VAPLITE. His close collaboration with Les Kurbas at the theater «Berezil» led to the creation of innovative performances addressing pressing social and national issues. As a resident of the renowned «Slovo» House, he belonged to a circle of intellectuals who shaped the cultural landscape of Ukraine in the 1920s and 1930s.
Mykola Kulish’s life was tragically cut short by Stalinist repressions. In 1937, he was executed in the Sandarmokh forest along with many other Ukrainian cultural figures. His legacy endures as a testament to the power of creative spirit and resilience in the face of oppression.
